I took the COVID 19 Vaccine (Pfizer BioNTech) last January 2, as soon as I had the opportunity because I put my trust in this most tangible solution to end the pandemic. As a pediatric healthcare provider and an immunization advocate, I have always believed in the power of vaccination to prevent diseases, and this COVID 19 vaccine was made for the same purpose.
Thank God that I somehow, have been able to remain COVID free despite seeing patients from the start. I thought this was my chance to do my best for everyone by remaining as a frontliner and propagating this scientifically tested solution. We prayed for the eradication of SARS CoV2 and now, our prayers are answered. It is our turn to act and embrace God’s response.
I fully studied the vaccine, asked questions, and read reliable resources, and tried to prepare myself to answer questions from my patients and loved ones. I opted to take the lead for them by receiving it, hoping for the rest to follow by example. I encourage everyone to get their shot. Let us all do this, not just for ourselves. Let us do this for our family, for our friends and for our community. Let us do this for our children who at this point, do not yet have an appropriate vaccine to protect them. Let us do this in memory of those who could have been saved from this dreaded disease but unfortunately did not make it and died. Lastly, let us do this for the future of humanity.
January 23, I received my second dose. I feel so blessed and am doing fine. I can now see the light at the end of this long journey. I continue to commit to the cause of fighting against the Coronavirus. I have complete faith and shall confidently face my patients more boldly, immune by the vaccine (along with my face mask, coat, face shield, clean hands while still social distancing) and be ready to save more lives.
