UPLIFTuesdays will feature OLM parishioners who would like to spread some cheer and make us grateful for the faith and community that we have.
Ysabelle A. Baculod is an incoming sophomore at McNair Academic High School. Aside from her academics, Ysabelle studies dance and hopes to pursue it as a career. You may know her as a teen leader in OLM’s Jr. High and Confirmation program.
I started dancing when I was about 4 years old. It started out just as a hobby, but as I went on to middle school, I started taking it more seriously. I began to see the impact the arts had on people, and the fact that it can influence so many is amazing. Dance is not only what I want to pursue as a career, but it keeps me going through tough times like these. It is a way for me to clear my mind and stay calm when I need it most. In addition, it’s easier for me to express myself through movement and music rather than through words. With no end in sight to this pandemic and a new normal set in place, it is more important for people to have an outlet where they can freely express themselves and share their thoughts on the state of the world.
