May 21, 2017 – From the Desk of the Pastor

Dear Parishioners of Our Lady of Mercy:

Fr. Marty JacintoThank you all for the outpouring of your love to each of our community of Our Lady of Sorrows and Our Lady of Mercy. As grieving of the break up of two communities continues, the love and support of each other is strongly felt. Let us not stop praying and caring for one another. Reach out to one another, for surely, God is there in the midst of us.

Flores de Mayo celebration went well. My heartfelt gratitude to all those who came and celebrate the crowning of the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary as a sign of our strong devotion to her in this month of May and in celebrating the centennial commemoration of her apparition in Fatima. A million thanks to the organizers (you know who you are), the Rosary Society, the Holy name Society, the Easter angels, the first communicants, music ministry, lectors, extra ordinary ministers of holy communion and altar servers. You all made Mama Mary very happy.

I thank those who volunteered this past weekend at Our Lady of Mercy in removing some of the dark spots around the wall of the church. Truly, it shows how you care for your church in physical way. That is just phase one. John Camaya, our parishioner whose line of work is in the building and architecture, will do the forensic study of the building. Thank you John for volunteering to do this. Let us keep our fingers crossed and keep praying that we will be able to define and fix the real problems of our church building. Besides repointing of some sides of the building, one of the main problems that he sees so far after the cleaning of walls is water leakage from the windows. There will be more details about it in the next few weeks or months. For now, we did the first step.

Thank you also for being welcoming to Father Phong Pham from Cross Catholic Outreach this past weekend at Our Lady of Mercy. He enjoyed his weekend stay here with us.

Live Christ, Share Christ seminar is this coming weekend. I invite everybody who have not participate to avail opportunity to nourish the spiritual side of yourself. Father Nol docabo and the team are there to help you should you have more questions.

Congratulations to our new altar servers who are installed this weekend. Thanks to Father Nol and the leaders who trained them. May you serve the Lord by being ministers of the altar with all your heart, mind, soul and body.

Last but not the least, I am so happy to know that the majority who gets involved in Jersey City Together is from Our Lady of Mercy and Our Lady of Sorrows. Thank you all for being there. It shows that you are concern of our neighborhood. For more information you can see Father Tom Iwanowski and the team leaders.

Thank you and God bless you all!

Love,
+Father Marty
