May 20, 2018 – From the Desk of the Pastor

Dear Parishioners of Our Lady of Mercy:

Fr. Marty JacintoIt is Pentecost Sunday! This is the day when the Church, the people of God, became alive through the coming of the Holy Spirit. This is the time when God breathed on each of us and gave us gifts, different gifts of the Holy Spirit. It is the most amazing thing that happened in the life of the Church, to receive those gifts for our salvation and empowered us to use those gifts to tell others the Good News of Jesus. It is amazing to know that all of us who have been baptized share the same gift of faith in Jesus and become one body no matter who we are and what nationality we belong to. We are one! Therefore I encourage each and every one of us to live as one and to use well the gifts we have received for the good of all. Let it be our prayer to help one another to the best of our ability, to lift up those who are down in spirit, to correct one another in fraternal way, to love and to forgive those who have wronged us and not put them down and, most especially, to keep the Holy Spirit alive in our hearts so that we can worship God in Spirit and Truth. If we just really listen to the Holy Spirit, imagine what kind of Church are we? Friends, it is not too late to change. We all know that nobody is perfect. We all have our flaws. That is why we need to be constantly asking God to guide us along the way, especially towards perfection and life eternal.

Brothers and sisters, as we continue on our life journey as a community of Our Lady of Mercy, please check out what is going on around us. Pay attention to our announcements. Pay attention to the different events, too. (To mention a few, coming up we have Ministry Fair on June 3rd and Vacation Bible School for children later in June.) Please get involved in the different ministries or works of our parish. Do not forget that God knows our deepest thoughts and hearts. He sees everything we do and He gives what is due to us.

I want to end this by asking your prayers for our to be ordained deacons and priests. May they be fruitful in their future Ministries.

Thank you and God bless you all!

Love,
+Father Marty
