June 10, 2018 – From the Desk of the Pastor

Dear Parishioners of Our Lady of Mercy:

Fr. Marty JacintoIt is almost Summer time and I hope all is doing well.

Summertime is a time for relaxation and recreation, having a break from school and going away for vacations or “staycations,” We all need that rest time to enjoy and recharge. A reminder: do no stay away from Church! I am pretty sure, wherever you go, there is always a Church. Do not deprive your soul from receiving God’s Word and the Eucharist. Also, since in summertime the temperature is hot, please let us have decorum when we come to Mass. Always wear your “light” Sunday best. Doing so, we will not fall into that group of people that Jesus is talking about in our Gospel this weekend that “blasphemes the Holy Spirit.” We do not want to be unforgiven by God for the rest of our life and in the next. God forbid!

Also, I would like to take this opportunity to ask your kind and understanding heart to take extra careful in correcting a fellow parishioner. Let us do it in a nice and non-offending, fraternal way. I am talking about calling someone’s attention of a noisy, distracting little child at Mass, taking hats off when inside the Church, not dressed up appropriately, and many other things. We are all Jesus’s brothers, sisters and even mothers, as He says in the Gospel today. Let us give our utmost respect and love to one another. What a friendly atmosphere we would have in our faith community if we did that.

Thank you and God bless you all!

Love,
+Father Marty
