Dear Parishioners of Our Lady of Mercy:
Last weekend we welcomed Joselyn Renee D. De Gorostiza to our Christian community through the Sacrament of Baptism. Her name is another addition in the heavenly book as well as that of Our Lady of Mercy Church. Congratulations to her parents and godparents!
It is summertime but there are quite a few events in our parish. A Vacation Bible School or VBS is just over and it went so well. The children had so much fun in learning about God who made them and enjoyed the different activities, games and others with their peers and leaders. Kudos to the leaders (under the guidance and direction of Tita Jeng Villa) who exhaustingly and lovingly assisted them but had fun as well. One thing for sure: they all love water! Jeng, our Faith Formation Director, told me that there were more children who wanted to join VBS but were not accommodated because of the limited number. Next year, God willing, we will have two groups. So, parents and guardians stay tuned… we may have limited space again but if you think your children are interested please make sure you contact Jeng’s office as soon as possible.
This weekend we have another “Live Christ, Share Christ” seminar for adults. We keep this ministry in our prayers so that it may bloom and bear fruits in the lives who participate. As we all know, this is one way to grow in our spiritual life if we listen and practice what we learn from it. This for all of you dear parishioners so, please avail it.
Also, this weekend is the Blood Drive and Health Fair. “Kudos” to the members of “Wellness Ministry” and volunteers under the leadership (interim) of Kathleen Pormento with Fr. Tom as the moderator. For those volunteered to help, blood donors and vendors “Thank You!” You save lives by doing it.
This Monday until Friday our music director Michael Rivera, some cantors and I will be going to Cincinnati, Ohio to attend the National Association of Pastoral Musicians (NPM) Conference. This is where we go to get updated and renewed on our church liturgy. Pray for our safe trip and that we come back refreshed and energized to serve our community.
To all those who are travelling for vacations or rest an recreation (R&R), wherever you may go have a safe trip and God bless you.
I want to end this short letter by asking you to please continue to pray for our parish that we will be a vibrant community. And get involved in whatever way you can.
Thank you so much!
Love,
+Father Marty
