Jan. 20, 2019 – From the Desk of the Pastor

Dear Parishioners of Our Lady of Mercy:

Fr. Marty JacintoGreetings in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ!

Our Christmas celebrations are over but we have more coming up. Please take every effort to attend to all of them: Santo Nino or the Infant Jesus feast this weekend, Cardinal Tobin’s visit this coming Saturday (January 26) and Parish Mission week (led by Friar Johnpaul Cafiero, OFM on January 28-30). Except this coming Saturday (of which Cardinal Tobin will be the main celebrant and homilist at Mass), Friar Johnpaul will be preaching at all Masses on that weekend, in preparation for the Parish Mission.

Also, the weekend of February 2nd and 3rd will be” Sharing God’s Blessings” weekend. We will be showing the video from the Archdiocese and will encourage each one of you to make a pledge. Yes, this is this time of the year. I ask you, in advance, to be generous to our Archdiocese of Newark.

Our parish annual financial report will be out soon. I am happy to see the progress of our finances. You will see it soon. And in the name of our staff, I thank those who help prepare it, including the cost of printing (they want to remain anonymous.) Thank you so much from the bottom of our heart (you know who you are!)

I want to thank all of you, in the name of the parish staff, for your generous Christmas gifts to our parish. I cannot thank you enough. You really showed your great love to your parish. Find out how much it is in the next page.

In the Gospel passage this weekend, we hear how at the wedding at Cana the bridegroom served the best wine. Here at Our Lady of Mercy, we try to serve the “good wine,” too, that is to say, we try to give or offer you the best in what we do (liturgy, religious education program, different ministries, events and many others). And we can only do that with your help, cooperation and generosity of time, talent and treasure. So, once again, thank you and God bless you!

Love,
+Father Marty
