The Wellness Committee of our parish is happy to announce that a noted expert in the field of caregiver burnout has accepted our invitation to speak about the topic here at OLM. This in-person session will take place Monday, April 26, at 6:30 pm in the Maria Room. Social distancing will be observed, and masks will be required. Everyone is invited.
Anyone who is caring, or who has cared for someone impacted by age, illness, mental or physical decline knows that providing such care can take its toll on the caregiver. Such caregiver burnout results from the lack of self-care habits by the caregiver. Such burn out is particularly present if such caring has continued for a period of time.
Our presenter will speak about the habits and practices that can lessen the emotional, physical, and mental demands that come with caring for a loved one.
This presentation on Caregiver Burnout will be given by Salman Abouzied. He is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner specializing in therapy and psycho-pharmacological treatment of Mood Disorders (Depression, Bipolar Disorder), Substance Recovery, Anxiety Disorders, Psychotic/Thought Disorders, Childhood ADHD/ADD, and management of psychiatric symptoms related to Autism Spectrum Disorder. A graduate of New York University, Mr. Abouzied has over 15 years of practice working in the field of mental health.
