From the Pastor
Dear Parishioners of Our Lady of Mercy,
I hope and pray that you are all doing well and safe.
First of all, in the name of our staff and community, I welcome back Bishop Manuel Cruz! We are grateful that the Bishop will be with us this afternoon, Sunday, October 18, to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation with 26 of our young people.
Second, congratulations to our brothers and sisters in Christ who are being confirmed. We pray that God may help and bless you with all the graces you need on your faith journey, which we hope and pray will bring us all to the kingdom of heaven. Be good soldiers of Christ!
Brothers and sisters, I urge you to keep praying for these young people. May they be protected against the attacks of the devil who uses many forms of disguises. Pray also for yourselves, and for all of us, that we may be able to walk in the ways of God and be examples of Christian living and Christian values to these young people. May we know how to balance our way of living by giving to God what belongs to God and knowing what belongs to this world.
Using the words of Saint Paul in today’s Second Reading, I can truly say, “We give thanks to God always for all of you, remembering you in our prayers, unceasingly calling to mind your work of faith and labor of love and endurance in hope of our Lord Jesus Christ… .”
Our faith community is so grateful for you because you have been faithful to God in what you do, especially in nurturing your faith as individuals and in what you do for Our Lady of Mercy parish – your parish.
Your prayers and support are so evident to me and all the staff. We see it every day and every weekend by your presence and kind words. May God pour out His abundance of grace and love on you and your loved ones. We cannot thank you enough.
Lastly, but not the least, please check our bulletin and website (olmnj.org) to find out what is happening in our parish and in the Archdiocese of Newark.
Thank you and God bless each and every one of you!
