Dear Parishioners of Our Lady of Mercy:
Greetings in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ!
This is the last weekend of Ordinary Time and Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lenten Season. This weekend’s Scripture readings are calling us to cleanse ourselves from sin. Our celebration today is setting up the stage for Lenten practices, beginning with purifying ourselves from impurity brought by sins. On Wednesday we will be asked to “repent and believe in the Gospel,” or to be reminded that we are “dust and to dust we shall return.” Let us listen to God’s voice brothers and sisters and try to make it a habit of living our lives according to God’s directives or commandments. Bear in mind that He is always there to help us in every way and to forgive us if we ask for His forgiveness.
In your personal prayer I have a few requests: I would like you to keep in mind our parish community by praying for our spiritual growth. God wants us, His children, to do His will and by doing so, we become evangelizers to others. Pray for our children who are preparing for the Sacraments of the Eucharist and Confirmation and for the children in our School of Religion and their catechists. Our children are not only being helped to grow as good Christians but that they will be the ones to pass on the catholic faith they are learning to their generation and the next. Your support is very important.
I want to take this opportunity to thank a few groups of people. First, I thank the Wellness ministry for a successful Blood Drive. Your love and effort in sparing your time in doing this is highly appreciated. Many thanks especially to those who donated blood. God bless you for saving other people’s lives. Secondly, I thank the Jersey City Together group who are participating in trying to make our area great again. We pray that the plans will be materialized in order to help those who are in need and also because we are beginning to get tired with vandalisms and other crimes going on around us. I also thank Guiz Macalintal and Michael Rivera for manning the video showing of Sharing God’s Blessings Annual Appeal.
I want to follow up what the Archbishop, Cardinal Joseph Tobin, asks us to do: to make a pledge for Sharing God’s Blessings Annual Appeal. Please consider sharing some of your financial resources so that the Church’s missions will flourish.
Thank you so much and God bless you all!
Please pray for the sick:
