Doris Ellen L. Estallo is OLM’s Director of Music Ministries and is responsible for all aspects of parish music programming — working collaboratively with Fr. Marty as pastor, and with Fr. Tom as the head of the OLM Liturgical Committee. At its periphery, Doris’ role is to integrate music within the liturgy, leading the assembly in sung prayer for its full, conscious and active participation.
Doris studied Music Theory, Composition & Orchestration at the Juilliard School in New York City. Prior to that, she majored in Music at the University of the Philippines, studying while free-lance composing and arranging corporate songs and jingles and directing varied vocal and instrumental ensembles. She trained and worked with musician par excellence Prof. Ryan Cayabyab, and also with world-renowned Jesuit composer, Fr. Manoling Francisco.
Now a member of the American Society of Composers and Publishers (ASCAP), Doris has written several songs both secular and liturgical, some of which have become part of our services here at OLM (such as The Lord’s Prayer, the seasonal Psalms, et. al.)
Doris spends her spare time as part of the ensemble for the AfterWork Theater Project, a community of individuals of varied professional backgrounds who love to sing, dance and act for a good cause. On occasion, she works as a teaching artist for projects that are in-line with the said theater company’s corporate initiatives.
Here at OLM, Doris says she feels blessed to be working with a team of talented stewards: cantors and choir members, adults and children alike. Having been Director of Music since 2008, she is prayerfully grateful for the full support of the entire OLM-OLS staff.
