From the Pastor
Dear Parishioners of Our Lady of Mercy,
I hope and pray that you are all doing well and safe.
In our gospel this weekend, we are reminded that God prepares a feast to which we are all invited. That feast is the Eucharist, it is the banquet that God prepares for each one of us. The Eucharist nourishes our souls and gives us strength and sustenance for our lives.
I am so happy to see you here in church every Sunday. Your presence shows that you appreciate this great gift of the Eucharist. Clearly, you know how it is to live with the Eucharist and unfortunately, during this pandemic, we have had to experience living without the Eucharist.
Your longing to receive Jesus in the Eucharist is a sign of your being a good steward of your spiritual needs. We have heard and heeded Jesus’ words, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never hunger, and whoever believes in Me will never thirst.” (John 6:35).
May you spread Jesus’ words of invitation to all who need to hear it. It is our Christian responsibility to help spread the Good News of the Gospel to all people. Keep inviting everybody and God will reward you for doing so.
Next Sunday, October 18, twenty-seven of our younger brothers and sisters will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation here at our parish. As we congratulate them, I ask you all to pray for them. May the gift of the Holy Spirit motivate them to use their gifts and talents for the good of the people that surround them. May they also use those gifts in service of the community they belong to, including Our Lady of Mercy parish.
I ask you to pray also for their parents and sponsors. May they be filled with wisdom and strength as they guide these young people in their journey as good soldiers of Christ.
And of course, please pray for all of us in this faith community. May we give our younger brothers and sisters in Christ good example. May we show them how to live their Christian faith and values.
Thank you and God bless each and every one of you!
